Collective mode description for a clean Fermi gas with repulsion in arbitrary dimensions: interaction of spin excitations and its consequences

چکیده
We discuss a recent bosonization method developed to study clean Fermi gases with repulsion in any dimensions. The method enables one to consider both density and spin excitations. It is demonstrated that due to a non-abelian structure of the effective theory, the spin excitations interact with each other, which leads to new logarithmic in temperature corrections to physical quantities. Using a renormalization group scheme constructed for the effective low energy field theory these logarithms are summed up in all orders. Temperature dependent corrections to the specific heat and spin susceptibility are obtained for all dimensions d = 1, 2, 3. PACS numbers: 71.10.Ay, 71.10.Pm Collective mode description 2

متن کاملExact bosonization for an interacting fermi gas in arbitrary dimensions.
We present an exact mapping of models of interacting fermions onto boson models. The bosons correspond to collective excitations in the initial fermionic models. This bosonization is applicable in any dimension and for any interaction between fermions. Introducing superfields, we derive a field theory that may serve as a new way of analytical study. We show schematically how the mapping can be ...
متن کاملLong-wavelength collective excitations in a two-dimensional spin-polarized electron gas: A phenomenological theory
The dispersion relations of the collective excitations induced in a 2D spin-polarized electron gas are derived within the framework of the Landau-Silin theory applied to a two-component Fermi liquid. The quasiparticle interaction is described by spin-dependent coefficients, which are parametric functions of the initial degree of polarization. The motion of the low-energy excitations satisfies a...
متن کاملScale invariance and viscosity of a two-dimensional Fermi gas.
We investigate collective excitations of a harmonically trapped two-dimensional Fermi gas from the collisionless (zero sound) to the hydrodynamic (first sound) regime. The breathing mode, which is sensitive to the equation of state, is observed with an undamped amplitude at a frequency 2 times the dipole mode frequency for a large range of interaction strengths and different temperatures. This ...
متن کاملSpin excitations of the spin-polarized electron gas in semimagnetic quantum wells.
Collective and single-particle spin-flip excitations of a two-dimensional electron gas in a semimagnetic Cd(1-x)Mn(x)Te quantum well are observed by resonant Raman scattering. Application of a magnetic field splits the spin subbands and a spin polarization is induced in the electron gas. Above 1 T the collective modes, which disperse with the in-plane wave vector, dominate the spectra. The loca...
